Why we consulted
Carmarthenshire County Council is holding a public drop-in session for the next stage of the Abergwili Active Travel Scheme.
Following engagement undertaken earlier this year, feedback from residents, commuters, local businesses, and other stakeholders has been used to help inform the development of the scheme proposals. We would now like to present the emerging proposals and gather further feedback to help shape the next stage of the project.
The scheme is being proposed to deliver the following benefits:
- Provide safer walking, wheeling and cycling facilities through Abergwili High Street. This includes installing raised plateau crossings to encourage safer driving through the village.
- Provide attractive walking, wheeling and cycling facilities through Abergwili High Street. This includes resurfacing the carriageway and several sections of footway. Cyclists will be directed to use the carriageway through High Street before joining a shared use route towards Tywi Valley Path.
- Formalise car parking provision through High Street. This includes narrowing some sections of footway to provide formal bays where vehicles are currently parking on the pavement. These parking bays will not require a permit.
We are proposing to begin construction in November 2026 for approximately 12 weeks.
