Ynni Cymru

Ynni Cymru is a Welsh Government-owned energy company which has been set up to:

• support the development of community-owned renewable energy generation
• promote community ownership of renewable energy assets
• help Wales meet its Net-zero targets.

The Ynni Cymru capital grant funding programme supports community energy organisations, social enterprises, and small and medium sized enterprises (SEMs). The grant program has a total of £10 million for 2024 to 2025. 

To receive funding, projects need to:

• integrate local energy generation, infrastructure and storage
• improve efficiency and deliver local benefits, for example, lower energy costs
• help decarbonise and increase the uptake of low carbon technologies. 

Ynni Cymru is not only expected to help Wales meet its net-zero targets but also create a wide range of economic and social benefits and improve local energy resilience.
