Housing Work Experience Placement
Curious about what it’s like to be on the front line of housing services?
This placement offers a unique chance to step into the role of a Housing Officer and see how we support our communities every day.

Please take extra care; stay hydrated, watch out for symptoms of heat exhaustion and sunburn, and check regularly on vulnerable friends and neighbours.
If you’re thinking of taking a dip to cool down, please also be mindful of the risks of swimming in the sea, lakes and rivers. Watch out for yourself and others around you.
People are advised to make changes to their usual routines to cope with the extreme heat, and as a result our bin crews will start collections earlier than usual tomorrow (Thursday 9 July) and on Friday 10 July, beginning at 5am instead of 6am.
This includes garden waste and hygiene/nappy waste collections. Please put your waste out the night before, or before 5am on your collection day.
This temporary change to start times will help protect the safety and wellbeing of our crews whilst working in hot weather. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to deliver essential services.
Enjoy the sun safely!

Join officers on visits, attend team meetings, and gain insight into how cases are managed and decisions are made.
Learn how our officers provide practical housing advice and guidance to tenants, helping them navigate challenges and access the support they need.
Get hands-on experience across different specialist teams — whether it’s tenancy support, tackling empty homes, or addressing anti-social behaviour — and see how each plays a vital role in building stronger communities.
This is a fantastic opportunity to understand the housing sector, develop new skills, and experience the impact of housing services first-hand.
