Volunteering for Country Cars

Become a Volunteer with Country Cars

Do you want to make a real difference in your community? Country Cars is a vital car-sharing scheme that helps Carmarthenshire residents reach essential destinations when no other transport options are available. We rely on the generosity of volunteers to keep our service running—could you be one of them?

We not only rely on volunteer drivers, but also local organisers who help keep the scheme running smoothly. If you’re great at coordinating, enjoy helping others, and want to make a meaningful impact in your community, this role could be perfect for you!

What is Country Cars?

Country Cars is a public transport 'safety net' that connects people to local bus and train services or provides door-to-door transport when necessary. Our volunteers ensure that those with individual or occasional travel needs can access healthcare, shopping, work, and other vital locations within Carmarthenshire.

Why Volunteer?

By becoming a Country Cars volunteer, you’ll:

  • Help residents who may otherwise struggle with transport.
  • Play an active role in supporting your community.
  • Meet new people and hear incredible stories.
  • Enjoy a flexible role that fits around your schedule.

Whether you’re driving those in need, coordinating services, or lending a helping hand wherever you can, there's a fulfilling role for everyone.

How It Works

Volunteers use their own vehicles to give lifts to local residents.

Passengers contribute towards the cost of the journey to help cover fuel expenses.

You decide when and how often you drive—every bit of help makes a difference!

By becoming an area organiser, you’ll be helping residents access essential services, medical appointments, shopping trips, and social activities when they otherwise might struggle.

Volunteers are run by the Royal Voluntary Service on behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council.
