Single-use vape ban

Starting 1 June 2025, it will be illegal for businesses to sell or supply single-use (disposable) vapes.

What is a Single-Use Vape?

A single-use or disposable vape is designed to be used only once. In contrast, a reusable vape must meet all the following criteria:

•    Has a rechargeable battery
•    Can be refilled with vape liquid
•    Includes a replaceable coil, or any replaceable part that heats the liquid to create vapour

Products That Will Be Banned

The following types of devices will not be considered reusable and will be banned:

•    Single-stick vapes with a fixed mouthpiece, tank, and battery where neither the liquid nor coil is accessible—even if there’s a USB port for charging
•    Devices that can be recharged and refilled but have a non-replaceable coil
•    Vapes that seem reusable but do not have refills, pods, or replacement coils available for purchase

How to Prepare

Before the ban takes effect:

•    Stop purchasing single-use vapes
•    Sell through your existing stock
•    Switch to compliant products that meet the new standards

After 1 June 2025, any remaining single-use vape products must be:

•    Separated from your other inventory
•    Clearly labelled as unsellable
•    Removed from sale (in-store and online) until collected by a registered vape recycling service
