Green travel choices

In Carmarthenshire, opting for more walking, cycling, or public transport instead of relying solely on cars is a sustainable choice that can significantly lessen our environmental footprint.

Transportation represents the third largest source of carbon emissions in Wales. Carmarthenshire County Council is actively developing initiatives to decrease these harmful emissions by enhancing accessibility, affordability, and convenience for public transportation. This encourages residents to adopt more active modes of travel, contributing to a greener and healthier community.

We have a statutory duty under The Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013 to develop, improve, and promote routes for walking and cycling for everyday short journeys, like going to work, school, shopping etc.

If it’s not far, leave the car, and cycle or walk instead. It’s the healthier option for you and the environment. Save money on fuel, running costs and parking and reduce congestion and air pollution.
