Why we consulted

We are working with AtkinsRéalis to undertake improvements on the reconfiguration of the A484 Sandy Road/Maes Y Coed in Llanelli, with the vision of alleviating traffic build-up and congestion along the westbound carriageway, to improve journey times and safety along the carriageway.

We are looking to involve the public on our proposal to ensure that we are implementing an appropriate scheme given the challenging constraints of this particular location and provide reassurance that that this proposal will improve traffic flow amongst this key corridor to and from Llanelli town centre.

Consultation Outcome

Carmarthenshire County Council have commissioned a team of consultants to undertake the design of improvements to the A484 Sandy Road / Maes-Y-Coed junction in Llanelli.

Two Public Engagement Events were held in March 2025. The purpose of the Public Engagement was to allow stakeholders and members of the public to view and provide feedback on the proposals.

Construction is currently scheduled to commence in Summer 2025.
