Why are we consulting

Carmarthenshire County Council has drafted a new Flood Risk Management Plan which is required to help the Council meet the strategic aim of the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and deliver its objectives and measures. The Flood Risk Management Plan identifies communities across the county that are at the highest risk of pluvial (surface water) and fluvial (river) flooding. The Plan also identifies suitable interventions to both manage flood risk and enhance communities’ overall resilience to flooding. These communities are termed ‘priority communities’.

In total,28 priority communities have been identified as being at a high risk of both fluvial and pluvial flooding across the county. Following the identification of these priority communities, a list of actions was developed to manage the risks of flooding present within each community.

We would like to get feedback on our analysis of areas at greatest risk of flooding, and our programme of works over the next 6 years to manage the risks identified.

As this is a lengthy document, respondents may only be interested in responding to the survey on communities of interest to the reader of the report (see Sections 4-10).
