Counter Terrorism

The UK Government’s Counter Terrorism strategy is called CONTEST and is divided up into four strands:

  • Pursue: to stop terrorist attacks
  • Protect: strengthen overall protection against terrorist attacks
  • Prevent: to stop people becoming terrorists and supporting violent extremism
  • Prepare: where we cannot stop an attack, mitigate its impact
