About Me
- I previously Worked in Tesco’s for 5 years While studying ICT in Graig
- After leaving college I then moved onto work at Admiral Insurance Group
- Following on from Admiral I then decided to apply for the ICT Apprentice vacancy, I applied because I wanted experience in the IT Industry.
- I manged to get the position and have been working in the IT department for Carmarthenshire County Council for 1year and 9 months.
Information About My Apprenticeship
- I am an IT Apprentice and I work for a sub-department of IT called Service Delivery
- Ensure that services function properly software applications/ operating systems/ support a range devices/ repairs/ automation/ onsite support/ Helpdesk/ give advice.
- In my current day to day role, I provide technical support to all customers from all departments of the authority, including members, Primary & Secondary Schools, by implementing, enhancing and maintaining and upgrading all the authority's desktop hardware and software, business-critical application servers, the authority's county-wide network (Voice & Data)
- My top tip would be, before applying look at YouTube videos and sites that give you information about Microsoft Enterprise 365 and its apps especially management apps.
What Am I Working On Now
I am currently working on the hardware replacement project. This project entails that I seek out all old hardware that is out in circulation and bring them back in to be decommissioned. For this I sometimes I must investigate in depth to find out where the device may be as sometimes there is now assigned user to the device.
What I Will Be Working On Tomorrow
I will be using our CRM to action any open tickets. I will also be provisioning new Windows devices, so they are ready to go out to clients. I will also be conducting appointments with clients/users to replace their laptops.
What Would I like To Do When The Apprenticeship Ends
I see myself being a Highley Experienced engineer in two years-time, with the ambition on becoming either an officer or a Technical Officer.
