Getting out & about

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As a precautionary measure due to a rise in the level of Covid-19 in the community, all residential care homes in Carmarthenshire have been asked to suspend visits.

Staff have been asked to continue supporting families to visit relatives outside, so long as this is practical. This decision has been taken after careful consideration, and we appreciate that this will be disappointing for some families and residents. We thank everyone for their continued support.

Day services for older people are temporarily closed.

There are a range of services available to get you out and about in Carmarthenshire. If you find it difficult to get around, there are a number of different travel options and services that can make life easier for you. It’s not easy when you are at home all day – getting out, taking part in leisure activities and socialising with friends can make all the difference.

There are many ways in which you can keep busy – perhaps learning a new skill, taking an interest in gardening or volunteering. Volunteering can be personally rewarding and allow you to give something back to your community. Keeping fit and healthy can be a challenge, particularly if you have a long-term condition, but it will make a big difference to your wellbeing and there are facilities and programmes throughout the County to get you started.
