RADAR keys - public toilets for people with disabilities

Page updated on: 12/10/2023

The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers disabled people independent access to around 9,000 locked public toilets around the country.

The key can be purchased by anyone with a permanent disability.  To purchase a key you will need to:

  • Make and appointment at one of our Customer Service Centres
  • Complete a Radar Key application form
  • Produce evidence to support your application

The form can be downloaded in advance of your appointment or can be obtained in person from our Customer Service Centres.  Alongside the form you will need to bring evidence to your customer services appointment to support your application,  examples of evidence include one of the following:

  • Blue Parking Badge
  • Hospital/GP letter
  • Letter referring to the payment of Disability Living Allowance or other disability benefit

RADAR keys for disabled people currently cost £4.70. You do not pay VAT if you declare you have a disability.  If you are eligible, you will be supplied with the RADAR Key during your appointment.

Keys can be purchased in person, or by someone on your behalf, at one of our customer service centres. If someone is coming on your behalf, they will need to bring your completed form and evidence with them to show that they are acting for you.
