Centre of Excellence for Green Technologies
Project Applicant: Coleg Sir Gâr
Project title: Centre of Excellence for Green Technologies
Investment Priority: Supporting Local Business
Location: Golden Grove Campus
The Centre of Excellence for Green Technology proposed by Coleg Sir Gar will be a state-of-the-art facility which will showcase innovation and a competitive range of initiatives and resources surrounding sustainability. Some of the project’s key priorities include supporting Net Zero Career Pathways for school and college learners as well as for public/private sector organisations, supporting the reduction of environmental impact from public/private sector organisations, and delivering training through the development of new technology.
The aim of the project is to build the centre in Coleg Sir Gar’s Gelli Aur Campus and become an IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) centre, delivering accredited training courses for environmental sustainability and management. The courses are aimed at promoting sustainability awareness in environmental matters as well as the agriculture/food sector, the centre being a regional hub for these practices while also designing and delivering innovative technology which is energy efficient and sustainable. The project will also develop a feasibility study for Tyfu Sir Gar – to promote self-sufficiency in agriculture for Wales.
