Why are we consulting

We are inviting feedback on its updated Air Quality Action Plan for Llandeilo, Llanelli and Carmarthen.

For over 25 years, the council has monitored nitrogen dioxide mainly from traffic in these towns. Due to past exceedances of national air quality standards, Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) were declared and action plans developed.

Recent data shows continued improvement, with current levels meeting national objectives. The new plan reviews progress and sets out measures to further improve air quality between 2025 and 2030.
