Our Apprenticeship programme is now open!
Please take extra care; stay hydrated, watch out for symptoms of heat exhaustion and sunburn, and check regularly on vulnerable friends and neighbours.
If you’re thinking of taking a dip to cool down, please also be mindful of the risks of swimming in the sea, lakes and rivers. Watch out for yourself and others around you.
People are advised to make changes to their usual routines to cope with the extreme heat, and as a result our bin crews will start collections earlier than usual tomorrow (Thursday 9 July) and on Friday 10 July, beginning at 5am instead of 6am.
This includes garden waste and hygiene/nappy waste collections. Please put your waste out the night before, or before 5am on your collection day.
This temporary change to start times will help protect the safety and wellbeing of our crews whilst working in hot weather. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to deliver essential services.
Enjoy the sun safely!

An apprenticeship is an opportunity to earn a salary, gain hand-on-experience and achieve a nationally recognised qualification while still able to access the benefits of working for Carmarthenshire County Council.
As an apprentice, you will be mentored by our experienced staff while also spending a portion of your paid time attending training with your training provider to help you gain the skills you need to complete your qualification. Our Amdani apprenticeship programme is for anyone 16 or over who are early in their career or looking for a career change, there is no upper age limit but there may be some restrictions or other entry requirements depending on the role you are applying for.
As an apprentice, there are opportunities to use your Welsh language daily through conversations with customers and your team and undertake your learning bilingually.
