What were you doing before you applied?
Before I applied for the role of Apprentice Business Support, I was a teaching assistant in a primary school for the last three years.
Why did you apply?
I applied for the role of Apprentice Business Support with Carmarthenshire County Council because I felt that I needed a change from working in a school environment, from working in an after-school club for 7 years alongside my teaching assistant role where the opportunity to work and learn in a business environment sparked my curiosity.
What team do you work in?
I am currently working in the Place, Infrastructure and Economic Development team, working specifically with the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership (RLSP) team.
An outline of what your job involves.
My job involves supporting my team with different tasks such as administrative and communication support by liaising with employers, marketing, and preparation of events.
How do you find doing the Business Admin qualification?
Since starting my Business Admin qualification, I have found it valuable to learn what this role entails and how I can utilise my learning in my role daily. My qualification fits into my day-to-day work with my team where I can assist on work-related tasks and complete aspects of my apprenticeship too.
How much of the Welsh language do you use in your role?
In my role, I can use my Welsh language to support the team in translation work when needed and I have been utilising my Welsh language skills in my apprenticeship work, by completing part of my apprenticeship through the medium of Welsh.
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of my job has been having many opportunities to gain an understanding of business support where each day I have been able to develop both professionally and personally in this role. Working closely with my team has also been beneficial in what I have achieved so far in this role, and I am keen to learn more throughout my apprenticeship.’
