Additional costs (AC) for respite/short-term admissions to a care home
27. Additional costs (AC) for respite/short-term admissions to a care home
Choice legislation does not apply to short-term/respite placements. The person with care and support needs will be offered one care home which has availability and can meet their assessed needs. This will be at Carmarthenshire’s normal commissioning rates.
Where one care home at the normal commissioning rate is not available, then the next cheapest care home within the county will be offered.
Where more expensive accommodation is chosen, an additional cost will be applied.
The additional cost charge is in addition to the care recipient’s financially assessed contribution.
Additional Costs do not apply to care homes run by Carmarthenshire. Carmarthenshire sets a standard charge based on the cost of providing the service.
