Planned road closure
Applications need to be submitted at least 8 weeks before you expect the roadworks to start. If you can maintain a road width of 3.2 metres or more, you do not need to apply for a road closure but you will need to inform us of the works and depending on the nature of the roadworks you may need to request lighting portable traffic and the relevant street works licence.
Planned road closure fees
You will be charged the following to apply.
- Up to 5 days - £750
- Over 5 days - £1200
We accept debit / credit card payments. Application fees are non-refundable.
We can also provide a signage schedule for temporary signs for the alternative route, this would be at an additional cost.
If your application for over 5 days is approved, you will also be sent an invoice for the cost of road closure advertising.
How to apply
To apply for a planned road closure, you will need to provide:
- Photographic and / or written evidence. Failure to provide sufficient evidence will result in the need for a site meeting to be held before work can commence.
- A suitable alternative route that can be used.
- Location plan of closure.
- Fees
Work should only start once you have received an email confirming approval.
