Carmarthenshire County Council Construction Of New Road Humps – Black Lion Road, Gorslas
File Reference: HMD/HTTR-2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Carmarthenshire County Council (hereinafter
referred to as ‘the Council’), in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 90A
of the Highways Act 1980 (hereinafter referred to as 'the Act') and of all other
enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police and
those bodies or persons prescribed by the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations
1999 (hereinafter referred to as 'the Regulations') in accordance with Section
90C(1) of the Act, and in accordance with Sections 90C(2) and 90C(3) of the Act,
intends to construct road humps in the form of both round-top and raised
plateau humps, in compliance with the Regulations, at various locations along
the C2060 Black Lion Road in Gorslas.
The proposed location of each road hump is more particularly described in the
Schedule to this Notice and shown on the plans annexed to this Notice.
It is intended that two types of road humps will be constructed:
- Round-top road humps, which are not completely kerb-to-kerb, with a curved top profile measuring 3700 millimetres (3.7 metres) in length; and
- Raised plateau road humps, which extend across the full width of the carriageway, with a plateau measuring 3000 millimetres (3 metres) in length.
Both types of road hump will measure 75 millimetres in height, in line with the
tolerances permitted in the Regulations (where a hump should not exceed 100
millimetres in maximum height).
Full details of the proposal, together with a plan and a statement of the
Council’s reasons for seeking to introduce these vertical measures, may be
examined at the office of the Council’s Customer Service HWB located at
Number 41 Quay Street, Ammanford SA18 3BS during the usual office hours.
