The County Of Carmarthenshire (A485 Road, Alltwalis) (Imposition Of A Temporary 10 M.P.H. Speed Limit) Order 2026
File Reference: HMD/HTTR-2015
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Carmarthenshire County Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended (“the Act”), the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992
and all other enabling powers, has made an Order continuing the temporary speed restriction introduced by an Emergency Notice made under Section 14(2) of the Act and issued on the 8th day of January 2026.
The Order will prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at a speed exceeding 10 M.P.H. along the section of the A485 Road Alltwalis from a point 730 metres south-west of its junction with the U5503 Coedllwydion Road for a distance of approximately 250 metres in a south-westerly direction.
This mandatory temporary speed restriction is required due to ongoing construction works by Carmarthenshire County Council on or near the road and to maintain the protection first provided by the Emergency Notice. It is expected to lower traffic speeds in the vicinity of the works in the interests of safety.
No alternative route is necessary.
The Order will come into operation on 28th day of January 2026 and will remain in force for a period not exceeding eighteen (18) months, or until the circumstances giving rise to the restriction have ceased, whichever is the earlier. The works are expected to last ten (10) weeks.
The mandatory temporary speed restriction will only apply during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 (as modified by the Traffic Signs (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations and General Directions 2023).
A copy of the Order together with a plan indicating the length of road affected, can be:
• viewed on Carmarthenshire County Council’s website, at https://www.
