The County Of Carmarthenshire (Public Footpath 22/24 (Part), Laugharne) (Temporary Prohibition Of Pedestrian Traffic) Order 2024
Reference: NLR/HTRW-865
NOTICE is hereby given that the Carmarthenshire County Council on the 10th day of May Two Thousand and Twenty-Four, made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any pedestrian traffic from proceeding along that length of Footpath 22/24 (Part), from a point east of Laugharne castle, heading in a general northeast direction to its junction with footpath 22/24 link 3, for a distance of 287 metres.
The closure is required because the likelihood of danger to the public caused by erosion, remains.
The Order came into force on the 16th day of May, Two Thousand and Twenty Four and was due to expire after a period of six months, but the likelihood of danger to the public remains on the length of Footpath 22/24 (Part) therefore the Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport, one of the Welsh Ministers, has pursuant under Section 15(5) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991) consented to extend the closure. The continuation of the Order, by the said direction, will mean that the Temporary Closure Order will continue in force until, and including the 15th November 2025 or until there is no longer a likelihood of danger to the public.
The Alternative Route From a point east of Laugharne castle, will be to proceed in a general north-easterly direction along Market Lane passing properties known as The Cottage and The Ball to the junction with Victoria Street. Turn right and proceed along Victoria Street then turn right and proceed along the footpath signposted ‘Dylan Thomas Boathouse’ known as Cliff Road for a distance of 230 metres. Turn right opposite the bungalow and proceed down the stairs onto the beach to join footpath 22/24 link 4 to return to a point west of the closure.
