The County Of Carmarthenshire (Special Events) (Carmarthen New Years Day Hunt) (Temporary Traffic Management) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the Carmarthenshire County Council intend to make an Order to enable the ‘Carmarthen New Years Day Hunt ‘(The Event)’ to take place. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from causing or permitting any vehicle including any unauthorised bicycles to proceed along the lengths of roads during the dates and time specified below:
1. Between the hours of 11:35 and 11:50 on Thursday the 1st of January 2026, the following roads will be temporarily obstructed/closed for 15 minutes:
a) Francis Terrace for its entire length
b) Barn Road for its entire length
c) Market Way for its entire length
d) Mansel Street for its entire length
e) St Catherine Street - from its junction with Barn Road to its junction with Market Way
2. Between the hours of 11:15 and 12:40 on Thursday the 1st of January 2026, the following roads will be closed:
a) Guildhall Square for its entire length
b) Blue Street for its entire length
c) Dark Gate for its entire length
d) Lammas Street – from its junction with Dark Gate to its junction with Mansel Street
3. Between the hours of 12:20 and 12:50 on Thursday the 1st of January 2026, the following roads will be temporarily obstructed/closed for 15 minutes:
a) Water Street for its entire length
b) Fountain Hall Terrace for its entire length
c) Lime Grove Avenue for its entire length
d) Lammas Street – from its junction with Mansel Street to its junction with Water Street
e) Elim Road - from its junction with Lime Grove Avenue for a distance of 150 metres in a northerly direction
The Order is necessary to enable the ‘Carmarthen New Years Day Hunt’ Event to take place.
The Order will not have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to premises situated on or adjacent to any of the roads to which the order relates or to any premises only accessible to pedestrians from such road. The Order will also contain exemptions for any motor vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes or for statutory undertakers attending an emergency, for motor vehicles used in connection with the event or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.
The Order comes into effect on Thursday 1st January 2026 and will continue in force for the periods specified above.
