Rural communities
Our rural communities and economy - driven by a strong agricultural sector - play a vital role in Carmarthenshire’s success. Recognising the strength and importance of these communities, we are delivering a wide-ranging strategy developed specifically to focus on our rural areas. ‘Moving Rural Carmarthenshire Forward’ aims to strengthen local economies, create jobs and business opportunities and protect the Welsh language in rural areas. It will evolve as more people and local businesses get involved. At its heart is:
- an emphasis on creating jobs and business opportunities
- incentives for young people to help them live and work locally
- innovative use of vacant or unused agricultural buildings to create hubs for entrepreneurs
- improving broadband provision
- creating a more sustainable environment, with new infrastructure to support carbon reduction efforts
- rising to the challenges created by Brexit
