Primary School Investment

Since the commencement of the Modernising Education Programme in 2001/2002 to date, a total of £333 million has been invested in Carmarthenshire's schools, which include the completion of the following Primary School Projects:

15 new Primary school buildings: Peniel Community School, Ysgol Bro Brynach, Ysgol Y Bedol, Bryn Community Primary School, Ysgol Bryn Teg, Ysgol Gymraeg Brynsierfel, Ysgol Gymunedol Ffwrnes, Ysgol Carreg Hirfaen, Ysgol Gymunedol Trimsaran, Ysgol Pen Rhos, Ysgol Gymraeg Parc y Tywyn, Ysgol Pum Heol, Ysgol Gorslas, Ysgol Y Castell and Pembrey School.
Major remodelling, refurbishment and extension projects.
Other minor investment and interim work.

This project included relocating Ysgol Rhys Prichard from its current site to the site of the former secondary school Ysgol Pantycelyn.

This project included the construction of a new replacement school building for Ysgol Pum Heol.

This project included an extension and an extensive redevelopment and refurbishment of the existing building.

Ysgol Gymraeg Parc y Tywyn

As part of the authority's Modernising Education Programme Ysgol Gymraeg Parc y Tywyn received a new school, jointly funded by the Welsh Government.

Ysgol Pen Rhos was established through the closure of both Copperworks Infant and Lakefield Primary Schools and an investment to provide a new school building.
