Carmarthenshire Integrated Community Equipment Service (CICES)

Jointly funded by Carmarthenshire County Council and Hywel Dda University Health Board, the Carmarthenshire Integrated Community Equipment Service provides equipment to enable you to support and maintain your daily living activities and independence at home.   Examples of things that might be provided include:

  • toilet seats and commodes
  • furniture raisers
  • hoists
  • profiling bed
  • pressure care mattresses

We support adults and children with an assessed need in Carmarthenshire.

In order that you get the correct equipment, a health or social professional will have to assess your needs. If you are eligible you will be given an equipment prescription.

If you have been in hospital, you will be assessed before you are discharged and the equipment will be prescribed and delivered to your home.

If you are at home, you will need one of the following professionals to assess you and prepare a community equipment prescription:

•    District/ Community Nurse attached to your GP practice
•    Occupational Therapist
•    Physiotherapist
•    Other 'Trusted Assessor' health or social care professional involved in your care

To get an assessment from Social Care you will need to request an assessment.

All equipment is provided free of charge for those who have had an assessed need.

The equipment can be used for as long as needed; however, the equipment remains the property of CICES and must be returned when it is no longer required.

Where possible we encourage small equipment to be returned directly to the store.

For larger equipment, or where you are not able to return equipment yourself, please contact the office on 01554 744359 and a collection can be arranged from your property.

Wheelchairs are not issued by CICES and should be returned to the original provider.

NHS supplied walking sticks and crutches should be returned to the department or ward that it was issued from.

During office hours repairs can be arranged by contacting the Community Equipment Office on 01554 744 359.

For emergency out of hours breakdown and repairs to beds, hoists or other electrical equipment provided by CICES please contact Drive DeVilbiss Sidhil on 01422 233136

Please note that stair lifts and ceiling track hoists are not fitted by, or the responsibility of CICES.
