Applications for work experience opportunities in 2019 are now closed, and we will re-open in September 2019.
Each year, we arrange over 200 work experience placements. These can range from a few days to four weeks for you to come and see how we work.
Opportunities are available across our five departments, and it’s a great way to get a better idea about what we do in the Council across the county – whether its information technology, sports and leisure, or theatres.
People undertake work experience with us for a number of reasons, including:
- Having a taste of working within an area before committing to a college course
- Undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh awards as part of your studies and looking to make up your volunteering hours
- Getting back into employment after a period of absence
- Gaining good experience to refer to as part of their application process for University/College.
By undertaking work experience in a busy Council environment you will gain valuable experience and skills while developing your confidence within a working environment and help to become Work Ready.
There are more people who want to do work experience at the Council each year than we have opportunities, so we will ask you to complete an online application form which allows us to find out a bit about you to help arrange a suitable work experience placement.
