Anyone over the age of 14 (year 10 in school) can apply for an unpaid work placement.
People attend a period of work experience with us for lots of different reasons, for example, wanting to get an understanding about jobs roles and careers we have in the Council or getting back into employment after a period of absence.
What are the benefits of work experience?
- Learn about a particular job you are interested in as well as other opportunities you hadn’t previously considered.
- Having a taste of working within a department before committing to a course or career pathway
- Gain valuable skills such as teamwork and communication skills, it can help you develop your confidence within a working environment.
- You will be able to put your experience on your applications for colleges, universities and jobs and it gives you something to talk about at interview.
