Caru Sir Gâr
Project Applicants: Keep Wales Tidy
Project title: Caru Sir Gâr
Investment Priority: Community & Place
Location: Carmarthenshire
Caru Sir Gâr is a collaboration between Keep Wales Tidy and Carmarthenshire County Council that aims to address the negative social and environmental impacts of our ‘on-the-go’ / throw-away society. The project will raise awareness about the damaging effects of littering, fly tipping and unnecessarily throwing things away for both people and wildlife and help communities to do something about it.
The project brings together individuals and organisations to develop solutions to improve their local environment. Activities include supporting community clean-up initiatives; expanding the network of community litter-picking hubs and the Litter Free Zones scheme; setting up and supporting repair cafes, reuse/swap shops, recycling, and waste amenities; producing campaign toolkits and resources; as well as providing guidance to help develop local strategies.
Caru Sir Gâr enables local communities to take pride, action, and responsibility for the quality of their local environment and provides a range of practical volunteering opportunities.
