Cynefin Green Health and Wellbeing Hub Carmarthen
Project Applicant: University of Wales Trinity St David
Project title: Cynefin Green Health and Wellbeing Hub Carmarthen
Investment Priority: Community & Place
Location: Carmarthen
The aim of the Green and Wellbeing Community Hub is to promote community mental health and wellbeing opportunities for community groups through access to local green spaces. The project will aim to do this through creating new opportunities for local groups and people to enjoy nature focused activities to support health and wellbeing while tailoring the support based on the specific needs of individuals. Based at the Cynefin Hub in Johnstown, the project will provide various programmes based on various needs, for example ‘Recovery in nature’ programmes which will provide support for NHS nurses and doctors suffering from ‘burnout’, and nature programmes tailored to supporting local children and young people with their health and wellbeing. UWTSD alongside multiple organisations within the local area aim to work towards connecting communities with nature and to highlight the importance of nature for health and wellbeing. The funding will also provide a feasibility study towards future development of the site as a green exercise venue for NHS patients, aiding physiotherapy, and rehabilitation schemes on the site.
