A number of schemes are available that allow you to save money on your bus journeys.
If you are 16 to 21 years old and live in Wales, then you can apply for a My Travel Pass. This pass will allow you cheaper travel on local buses and TrawsCymru long-distance buses.
This ticket offers greater discounts for regular travellers than purchasing daily single or return tickets. The ticket allows 12 individual journeys which must be used within a calendar month, on any day of the week on most services provided by us. For example, a £2 single bus journey would cost only £1.17 with a 12 trip ticket, and an adult day return of £4.90 would cost only £3.27. For more information ask your bus driver.
PLUSBUS is a bus pass that connects trains and buses throughout Wales. Buy your PLUSBUS pass with your train ticket at the station, by phone or online. It gives you unlimited bus travel around the origin and/or destination towns of your rail journey, including the journey to and from the train station. PLUSBUS is available in 275 towns across Britain, including Llanelli and Carmarthen.
Cymru Connect allows you to book a ticket at a rail station and travel from point A to point B in Wales using a combination of rail and bus in one single transaction.
The bus routes available in and around Carmarthenshire are:
- 279 from Carmarthen to the Botanic Garden of Wales;
- 222 from Carmarthen to Laugharne and Pendine;
- X13 from Swansea to Ammanford and Llandeilo;
- 460 from Carmarthen to Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan.
The Explore Wales Pass gives you the freedom to enjoy unlimited travel across to all of Wales’ mainline train services and almost every bus service. You also receive an amazing range of other benefits, including ‘two for one’ entry or discounted admission to many of Wales’ biggest tourist attractions and youth hostel accommodation.
First Cymru and Richards Brothers provide their own tickets. These tickets are valid on their own bus networks.
Don’t forget, residents of Wales aged 60 or over and people with certain disabilities can travel on all local bus services in Wales for FREE!
The County’s network of bus services links nearly all major towns and villages, and reaches most of the scenic attractions in the area. The contrasting countryside ranges from market towns to sleepy villages set in some of the most attractive unspoiled countryside. You can visit ancient castles steeped in history and centres demonstrating age-old crafts, towns which combine modern shopping facilities whilst retaining their natural historic features, and a variety of family attractions for all weathers.
Now visiting these places by bus has been made simpler with the introduction of the West Wales Rover Ticket. You simply buy the ticket on the first bus you travel on, and use it to go as you please throughout the day.
The Rover Ticket is valid on most local bus services in:
- Carmarthenshire
- Ceredigion
- Pembrokeshire
The Rover Ticket does not include:

The services in this directory can take you as far afield as Tenby, Cardigan or Swansea, but the Rover Ticket will let you explore even further.
