FAQ's about Eto
Page updated on: 29/10/2024
Eto is a repair and re-use project that aims to keep items in use for as long as possible instead of disposing of them. Repairing, re-using and re-purposing items helps to create a ‘circular economy’ which helps to reduce everyone’s carbon footprint as fewer items are disposed of which means less new items need to be created.
Repaired, re-used and re-purposed items are sold at the Canolfan Eto re-use centre at Nantycaws.
Residents can donate items to the project at one of our household waste recycling centres (HWRCs).
Our aim is to keep items in use for as long as possible and reduce the amount of waste created in Carmarthenshire. We will do this by repairing, re-using and re-purposing items that have been donated to the project.
You can donate items at one of our household waste recycling centres, place the items at the donation station.
Items can also be donated via our bulky waste collection service which costs £25 for up to three items. Find out more about the bulky waste collection service here.

Donated items will be assessed to ensure that they are in a suitable condition and are safe to be re-used, repaired or re-purposed. After this, any necessary work will be carried out before items are sold at Canolfan Eto in Nantycaws.
We accept items in a reasonable/good condition. All items are inspected and any items that are deemed unsuitable for the project will be recycled where possible.
This project is not a profit-making exercise. We anticipate that the hiring of staff, running of premises and other costs will outweigh any money received as a result of the project. The aim is to reduce waste by keeping items in use for as long as possible to reduce our carbon footprint and help the environment.
All electrical items will have been subject to Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) which is a routine inspection of electrical appliances to ensure they are safe to use.
