Private hire operator licence

Anyone who plans to take pre-bookings for the carriage of passengers in private hire vehicles must be licensed by us. Applications are generally issued within one day, unless there is a need to refer the application to our licensing committee.
Before submitting your application, you are advised to contact us to discuss your proposals. We also advise you to read our conditions of licence for private hire operators.
You can send applications to us in the post, however we encourage you to make your application in person at one of our Customer Service Centres. You will need to provide the following items:
- Completed application form (with all sections completed)
- Application fee
