Have you received your converted occupation contract?

Page updated on: 16/02/2024

All contracts are as of 01/12/22 and do not reflect any changes since then.

The contract should include:

  • Names of who is renting and address of the rented property
  • Rights and responsibilities. For example, it is the responsibility of the landlord to fix things in the home.
  • Day to day issues. For example, telling the landlord if no one is going to be in the home for 4 weeks or more.
  • Other information. For example, things like if you are allowed to keep pets or not.

The Contract is a legal contract between you and Carmarthenshire County Council (the Community Landlord). Under the Contract and in line with the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 (RHWA) the contract replaces your tenancy agreement. You are a Secure Contract-Holder and live in the property under the conditions of the Contract. It is important that you read and understand the Contract, in particular the Written Statement of Terms.

The Contract can be enforced through the courts so you must keep to the conditions that are set out in the contract, otherwise you could lose your home. You are also responsible for making sure members of your household, relatives, and visitors (including children) keep to these conditions.

Please let us know if you are not sure about anything in the contract or if there are any errors in your details within the contract, please contact us on 01267 234567 or email housing@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
