11. Can I remove a Public Right of Way from my land?
A right of way can be extinguished if it can be proved that it is not needed for use by the public and that it is appropriate to close it.
This is very difficult to prove, and extinguishment orders are made very infrequently. If you are considering applying for an order the first step is to contact the Countryside Access team.
