4. How We Buy

Every contract made by or on our behalf shall comply with National Legislation (Public Contract Regulations 2015), our Contract Procedure Rules and Financial Procedure Rules for Schools.

The rules we follow for public contracts depends on the value.

We provide advice and guidance on procurement, applying these rules to all Council Departments.

The Public Procurement Thresholds are revised every 2 years and the current values came into effect on 1st January 2024 (NB: These are INCLUSIVE of VAT) and are as follows:

  • Supplies Contracts - £214,904
  • Services Contracts – £214,904
  • Building and Engineering Works Contracts - £5,372,609
  • Light Touch Regime (Social and Similar) - £663,540
