2. What do we spend our money on?

We spend on average in excess of £248 million per annum on a wide variety of goods, services and works providing businesses of all sectors and sizes, with a range of commercial opportunities incorporating Small Medium Enterprises (SME’s), Third Sector Organisations, Minority and Faith Groups.

We apply a Category Management approach to our procurement, enabling the spend to be categorised by means of grouping together related products and services across the Council, and mapping them to relevant supply markets. By focusing on our spend in specific categories we can challenge what we buy and how we buy it, to ensure that our buying power and value are maximised.
