Alcohol and Other Drugs
Page updated on: 25/07/2024
Substance use is a complex problem that is influenced by a number of factors which are not always visible for people to see.
If you or family member are impacted by alcohol and other drugs or other harmful behaviour such as gambling or addictive behaviours.
The Substance Use and Recovery Team can help and support you if you are:
- a permanent resident in Carmarthenshire
- registered homeless in Carmarthenshire
- an individual over the age of 18, who is worried about use of alcohol and other drugs
- providing a caring role for someone using substances to problematic levels.
We can offer an assessment of your needs and work with you taking into consideration your situation and what is important to you.
We will help you to use your own strengths to resolve problems and promote independence.
Sometimes we work with other partnership agencies to help get you the support that you need.
To access support contact us via phone on 01554 744343. (Monday to Fri 1pm-4pm).
Outside of these hours, you can contact Delta Wellbeing on 0300 333 2222 or the Wales Drug and Alcohol Helpline on 0808 808 2234.
Choices are the Single Point of Contact for young people aged 18 or under and their concerned others. You can contact them on 01554 755779 or alternatively by visiting their website.
The Carmarthenshire Young Carers Team supports young people who are impacted by familial substance misuse. You do not have to have a direct caring role to access this service, as the impact of parental use can affect in many ways. To make a referral to this team, contact 01554 742630 Text 07812 475470 or email youngcarersservice@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
If you do not wish to make a referral and get an assessment, there are still a variety of organisations which can help you. Links below.
