Re:Fit Cymru

The Re:Fit Cymru scheme is a framework which allows public sector bodies in Wales to make their buildings and assets more energy efficient through securing guaranteed savings and reduce carbon emissions by accessing Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs).

The programme takes a holistic approach to energy reduction in our buildings. Working with the contractor, Ameresco, we have completed phase 1 of the programme where energy efficiency measures, such as the installation of solar PV, LED lighting, pipework insulation, boiler optimisation and much more were incorporated into 30 of our buildings.

After the first year of implementation (August 21 to August 2022), the project has been extremely successful, and the following savings have been made:

800.5 tCO2e

This is far greater than what our predicted savings had been.

Phase 2 of the programme is currently being scoped and sets out to be far more ambitious, incorporating a larger number of our buildings and more energy efficiency measures to generate greater savings.

These energy efficiency works are all made possible through the utilisation of Salix Finance’s interest free loans. Through the Re:Fit programme, the loans are repaid by the savings made through the implementation of the energy efficiency measures, making this the most viable method of energy reduction in our buildings.
