The County Of Carmarthenshire (Class III Road At Bwlchnewydd, Carmarthen) (Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic) Order 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that the Carmarthenshire County Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that length of the Class III Road known as Henfwlch Road leading from Trevaughan, Carmarthen to Cynwyl Elfed from a point adjacent to the southern boundary of the entrance to Esgairhir Isaf located to the south of Bwlchnewydd and extending for approximately 200 metres in a general south easterly direction.
Pedestrian and vehicular access to individual properties will be maintained where possible throughout the duration of the closure.
The Alternative Route for southeast bound traffic from a point north of the closure is to proceed in a general northerly direction along the Class III Road through the village of Bwlchnewydd and continue to its junction with the Principal Road A484 at Cynwyl Elfed. Turn left at the junction and travel in a general south easterly direction along the Principal Road A484 towards Carmarthen. On approaching Carmarthen continue along Bronwydd Road and at the first roundabout adjacent to Glangwili Hospital take the second exit and proceed to the next roundabout at Tanerdy. Take the second exit again at the roundabout at travel along the Principal Road A484 passing a petrol station on the right-hand side to the mini roundabout at Priory Street. Take the second exit at the roundabout and travel along Old Oak Lane and Richmond Terrace to arrive at a further roundabout at Francis Terrace. At the roundabout take the second exit and proceed firstly along Barn Road and then St. Catherine Street to a set of traffic lights. Turn right at the traffic lights and continue along Water Street via Fountain Hall Terrace and Lime Grove Avenue towards Trevaughan and thereafter along the Class III Road to return to a point southeast of the closure.
Vice versa for northwest bound diverted traffic.
The Order will continue in force until highway support works which are required to be undertaken have been completed. It is intended that the works to remedy the existing highway support structures will be completed in approximately six months.
Where appropriate temporary Road Traffic Regulation Orders may continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months.
